Things are great.  Amazingly so.  My brother is here from Texas and I’m savoring life at it’s best, making a conscious effort to stay in each moment as long as it lasts.  As a result posting here may be light for a couple of weeks.

Last night I went to a pizzeria, ordered a vegan pizza….and liked it.

Ellis hasn’t mentioned one word about Tucker not being around.  Until today.  We were walking hand in hand downstairs after playing in the sprinklers and he says:

E: Mommy?  How many cats do we have?

Me: We have one.

E: Well, maybe someone can come in their car and bring you another one.  Then we’ll have two.

It’s been a magical weekend.  Kent went out of town, and we missed him like crazy.  But we’ve had fun, my boy and I.  We’ve seen movies, thrown birthday parties, played in sprinklers, read books, and given a million kisses.  I’m tired.  But so grateful for this life, these people in it, my family, my friends, all of you.  You make my life so rich.  Especially you my incredible, incredible boy.

I’ve started sneaking into his room before I go to sleep at night and whispering in his ear “I love you just the way you are.”  Sometimes he doesn’t react at all.  And sometimes he smiles in his sleep, rolls over and says “yeah”.  And last night he said “Thanks mama”. And went right  back to sleep.  I don’t know what I would do without that kid.

Yesterday I stepped on the scale for the first time since March.  I’ve lost 30 pounds since that horrible weight in which puts my total weight loss at around 40 pounds.  And I’m proud of myself, I am.  However, the knowledge that I still have 30 more to lose (and 5 more inches from my waist) to be in the healthy range according the the BMI index thingy has me more than a little bit irritated.

I pulled a white hair out of my head the other day.  Apparently I’m skipping the whole gray step entirely.  And that’s the most exciting thing that’s happened lately.  Not that I’m complaining.
